4. Age relaxation
The advertisement specifies the following upper-age relaxations:
| Category | Relaxation |
|---|---|
| SC/ST | 5 years |
| OBC (NCL) | 3 years |
| PwBD | 10 years |
| PwBD + OBC (NCL) | 13 years |
| PwBD + SC/ST | 15 years |
| Ex-Servicemen/eligible Commissioned Officers etc. | As specified in advertisement |
The upper age is calculated on the last date of online application, and the date of birth recorded in the Matriculation/Secondary Examination Certificate is used for determining age.
A particularly important point: SC/ST/OBC candidates applying against an unreserved vacancy do not receive the SC/ST/OBC age relaxation under the advertisement. OBC candidates must belong to the Central List of OBCs and must not be Creamy Layer.
5. OBC-NCL and EWS certificate requirements
OBC-NCL
The OBC certificate must:
- Be in the prescribed DoP&T format.
- Mention Non-Creamy Layer status.
- Be based on a caste appearing in the Central List of OBCs.
- For this recruitment, the NCL certificate should be for financial year 2026–27, considering income up to FY ending 31 March 2026.
- It should be issued on or after 01 April 2026 and on or before 31 March 2027.
EWS
The EWS certificate must be the prescribed Income & Assets Certificate for Central Government employment.
For this recruitment, the advertisement says the certificate should be based on FY 2025–26 income, issued from 01 April 2026, and valid for FY 2026–27.
6. Application fee
| Category | Fee including transaction charges |
|---|---|
| General | ₹1,000 |
| OBC | ₹1,000 |
| EWS | ₹1,000 |
| Ex-Serviceman | ₹1,000 |
| SC | ₹800 |
| ST | ₹800 |
| PwBD | NIL |
The fee is non-refundable and must be paid online/digitally. An application without the prescribed fee, unless exempted, can be rejected.
7. Selection process — very important
The final selection is based on Interview performance.
However, AIIMS Nagpur may conduct a Screening Test/Computer Based Test (CBT) if there are many eligible applicants. The purpose of the CBT is to shortlist candidates for interview. CBT marks themselves do not carry weightage in the final interview-based selection.
Interview minimum suitability
The interview is of 100 marks.
| Category | Minimum interview marks |
|---|---|
| UR/EWS | 50/100 |
| OBC | 45/100 |
| SC/ST/PwBD | 40/100 |
If CBT + Interview is used, the candidate must meet the prescribed suitability level at both stages. The minimum CBT suitability level will be decided by AIIMS Nagpur on a case-by-case basis.
Selection sequence
Online application → Screening/CBT, if conducted → Shortlisting → Interview → Document Verification → Final result
Original documents of shortlisted candidates are verified, and the final selected-candidate list is published on the AIIMS Nagpur website.
8. CBT examination pattern
If AIIMS conducts the CBT:
- Duration: 90 minutes
- Scribe candidates: 20 minutes extra per hour
- Questions: 75 MCQs
- Total marks: 100
- Options: 4 alternatives per question
- Negative marking: 1/3 mark for each wrong answer
- Purpose: shortlisting for personal interview.
So, although there are only 75 questions, the paper carries 100 marks, and negative marking is applicable.
