Timers and marking shown on the individual tests are academy practice settings. They do not establish the rules of a past or current PGIMER examination. Answers and explanations appear after a full attempt; email verification is required for the timed tests.
Start with these six practice questions. You can try them without registering. We wrote them for revision; they are not taken from a previous PGIMER paper. Choose your answer, then open the explanation to check your reasoning.
The calculation questions use fictional examples for exam practice. They should not guide patient treatment. The answer about hand hygiene follows WHO’s guidance on hand hygiene.
500 micrograms equals how many milligrams?
B: 0.5 mg
1 milligram contains 1,000 micrograms. Divide 500 by 1,000 to get 0.5 mg. Keep the units in each step so the calculation is easier to follow.
In this practice example, 1,000 mL is given over 8 hours. What is the average rate in mL per hour?
C: 125 mL/hour
Divide volume by time: 1,000 mL ÷ 8 hours = 125 mL/hour. This is an arithmetic example, not a patient-specific prescription.
In a practice chart, recorded intake is 1,800 mL and output is 1,500 mL. What is the recorded balance?
C: +300 mL
Recorded balance is intake minus output: 1,800 − 1,500 = +300 mL. Clinical interpretation requires the full patient assessment.
A practice test awards +1 for a correct answer and −0.25 for a wrong answer. What is the score for 75 correct and 15 wrong answers?
B: 71.25
Calculate 75 − (15 × 0.25) = 71.25. Use the marking rules stated on your actual test; this example does not establish the current PGIMER examination scheme.
What is the arithmetic mean of 60, 70 and 80?
C: 70
Add the three values and divide by the number of observations: (60 + 70 + 80) ÷ 3 = 70.
Which statement about medical gloves and hand hygiene is correct?
C: Gloves do not replace hand hygiene
WHO explains that medical gloves are not a substitute for hand hygiene. Clean your hands when indicated and follow your institution’s infection prevention procedures.
If you missed a calculation, try it again and write out the units. If a topic feels unfamiliar, spend a little time revising it before taking a full paper. Reviewing each mistake will help you decide what to study next.
Choose a full PGIMER paper above or read the syllabus and revision guide. You will need to verify your email before starting a full timed test. These sample questions are open to everyone.

The supplied corrected 2016 paper is divided into two free online tests: Set 1 has 50 questions and Set 2 has the remaining 46. Take each set separately, then review the answer rationales and the questions you missed before repeating the paper. The on-page timers are academy practice settings, not a statement of the official 2016 exam rules.
For the current recruitment, read the PGIMER Nursing Officer exam pattern and syllabus guide alongside these previous-year questions. The guide covers the present exam; the 2016 tests are historical practice material.
